The Trek

Over the Easter break, I had the opportunity to explore the wild side of Hong Kong. It is one of the best kept secrets that the island has a few world class hiking trails namely the 100km Maclehose Trail and Wilson Trail. It is a great way to reconnect with close friends and reflect on the first quarter of 2023 and fuel up for the second quarter. First quarter of the year was marked by cost focused financial and technology challenges due to inflationary pressures and the unfortunate failures of Credit Suisse in Europe and Silicon Valley Bank in US. It further shows the importance of balancing risk and growth for banking institutions which is build on customers’ trust. Luckily, a bright spark is palpable with the re-opening of China and the thirst for growth in the Asia and the Middle East markets. The hike was therapeutic and enable me to look forward with greater optimism.
